Filoli is one of the finest remaining country estates of the 20th century in the U.S. Originally built in 1917 as a private residence for the Bourn family, which derived wealth from the Empire Mine in Grass Valley, California, the property includes a 54,000+ square-foot mansion, 16 acres of English Renaissance gardens, and trails on surrounding natural lands. During our self-guided tour, you can explore the garden rooms with their lush flower beds, tree-lined avenues, and a sunken garden. In the house, see the grand ballroom, elegant dining room, and intimate family spaces, furnished with 17th- and 18th-century English antiques. Lunch will be on your own at the onsite Quail Café. Note: the café does not accept cash payment (credit card only).

Depart 7:40 a.m. from Davis Target and 8 a.m. from the University Retirement Community. Return in reverse at approximately 5 and 5:15 p.m.

Activity Level: 2 (self-guided walking tour at your own pace)

Cancellations: Cancellations received by April 9 will receive a full refund. Cancellations received after that date will only receive a refund if your space can be filled from the waiting list.
