The world of the Pharaohs is brought to life through 130 exquisite works spanning 3,000 years, including towering statues, gilded masks, and intricate gold jewelry. On our self-guided tour of the exhibition, you will learn about the lives and beliefs of the pharaohs and the people they ruled. Witness how Egyptians viewed death not as an ending, but as a new beginning — and see the elaborate rituals they created to prepare for it. A special highlight is the US debut of objects from the newly-unearthed Golden City, a workers’ community near Luxor. The suddenly abandoned city is a moment frozen in time, much like Pompeii. Fine Arts Museums of San Franciso members pay a discounted price. Lunch is on your own at the museum cafe.
