The Western Railway Museum preserves the heritage of Northern California’s electric railroads, with more than 50 historic rail cars on display, dating back 80 to 110 years. We will take a guided tour to see trains that once operated in San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento, Napa, Santa Rosa, Petaluma, and many other communities. We will also embark on a 50-minute interurban train ride along the historic Sacramento Northern Railway, an electric rail line that once connected San Francisco, Sacramento, and Chico, with views of open farmland, Mount Diablo, and the surrounding marshlands. After our visit to the museum, we will drive a short distance to Rio Vista for a deli buffet lunch at the Golf Club at Rio Vista’s Monarch Grill.
